When your travelling all day and have to stop and set up camp everynight the speed of set up of your tent become all the more important!
A 5 minute tent set up might sound quick, but when you have to do it night after night it can really put a dampener on your holiday. For people in this stop start situation we tend to recommend the Oztent as it’s 30 second set up really makes your trip so much easier and more enjoyable.
The oz tent uses a patented design frame system which stays inside the tent so all you have to do is get it out of the bag and unfold it. It also has guide ropes and peg points, but in good weather we tent to just stand up the tent and use it.
OZTENT comes in 5 sizes the OZTENT RV1, OZTENT RV2, OZTENT RV3, OZTENT RV4 and OZTENT RV5. The oztent stands at 1.95 metres tall so you can stand up to get changed in it which is a great thing.
There are larger tents on the market, cheaper tents and even nicer tents when set up, the oz tents real claim to fame is its set up time. When we talk to customers about their tent needs we always need to weigh up factors like speed, room required, etc.
The OZTENT is also quite long when packed up at a bag length of 2.1 metres which means it’s very hard to fit in the car. Many 4×4 travellers put their oztent on the roof rack which makes it pretty easy to transport, however they will fit in the back of most utes or larger 4×4 wagons on the market.
As much as we love oztent they are not for everyone. If you’re on a budget they are quite expensive. Families who need a lot of room and set up for a week at a time don’t really need the quick set up times as much so we tent to steer them towards other types of tents. But for the genuine traveller who gets in the car most days to travel to a new camp site, we recommend this as the number one tent for that purpose. We also think its worth the extra investment as it makes travelling around the country so much easier and stress free.

Hi Brett I have heard that the oz tent was going to be made with a collapsible frame so that it folded down from the 2.1 metre length for easier storage inside your vehicle .Do you know if this is correct ?
Hi Clive, I’ve rang OZTENT to clarify but they can’t modify the traditional OZTENT design to do this. You maybe talking about their new Jet Tent which is a similar construction and set up the the Turbo Tents we sell.
Hi Brett. We have had our RV3 and RV5 and a foxwing for about 18 months now and they are great. The tents can be connected to any of the 4 sides of the foxwing which is great when juggling for space on a site. When connecting to the foxwing setup time is extended but well worth the extra time if it does rain while setup. All in all great products with really good quality control, just wish we had more time to use the tents!
